Ghorepani Poon Hill Trek

The Ghorepani Poon Hill trek is an ideal choice for novice trekkers looking to explore the Annapurna mountain range in Nepal. With a maximum elevation of 3,210 meters, it offers a moderate level of difficulty that requires a reasonable level of fitness.

This highly sought-after trek takes you through less frequented paths, leading you through Gurung villages to the north of the Madi Khola valley. Starting from the picturesque village of Naudanda, we drive through oak forests teeming with birdlife and wildflowers. Along the way, you’ll encounter fellow trekkers and nomads, providing opportunities for interaction. The leisurely pace of the trek allows ample time to immerse yourself in the Gurung way of life, which has remained largely unchanged.

As we reach Nayapool, we begin our hike through Birethanti, where your ACAP permit and TIMS card will be checked. After a couple of hours of hiking, we embark on the soul of the trek, a 1000-meter climb to the village of Ulleri, where we spend the night. The following day, we continue our journey through oak and rhododendron forests, ascending to the town of Ghorepani.

The highlight of this trek awaits you on a special day. You’ll wake up at 4:30 am to witness a spectacular sunrise from Poon Hill. The panoramic view of the Annapurna and Lamjung Himalayas, as well as the breathtaking ‘fishtail’ peak of Machapuchhare, will make all the challenges of the journey fade away. The early morning sunrise at Poon Hill offers a mesmerizing sight of the Himalayan peaks, including Gangapurna, Annapurna South, Annapurna I, Dhaulagiri, Nilgiri, and Hiunchuli. Throughout the trek, you’ll also traverse bamboo and rhododendron forests, adding to the scenic beauty.

This trek is a unique opportunity to relish the invigorating mountain air and witness the awe-inspiring Annapurna and Fishtail ranges. The tranquil mountains during the Ghorepani Poon Hill trek are truly a blessing, and the presence of the Himalayas makes the Annapurna Poon Hill trek an even more extraordinary experience.
