Prepare to witness the most breathtaking view of the Kathmandu Valley from the top, an astonishing sight that will leave you in awe. After a satisfying breakfast, we embark on a 29-kilometer drive north of Kathmandu to reach Kakani. The drive itself is an adventure, as we pass through numerous villages, navigating the winding road that seems to stretch endlessly. The scenery along the way is nothing short of magnificent. However, the true beauty awaits us upon our arrival in Kakani, as the entire vista unfolds before us on the north side, captivating our senses. To the north, we are graced with a panoramic view of some of the world’s highest mountains, including Manaslu, Annapurna, Ganesh Himal, Gaurishankar, and many more.
From the main viewpoint, a plethora of fascinating hikes are available towards the northeast. Additionally, you’ll find a century-old summer villa that was once utilized by the British Embassy, as well as a memorial park commemorating the victims of the 1992 Thai Airways Flight 311 accident.
If we visit between February and April, we’ll have the opportunity to indulge in the local delicacy of freshly picked strawberries, sold by the locals. Trust me, their strawberries are unrivaled in flavor and quality.
Our hike commences from Kakani, leading us through dense forests and onward to Alle, culminating at Budhanilkantha. This exhilarating hike spans approximately 5 to 6 hours. However, we have the flexibility to allocate additional time for rest, photography, and savoring the experience in our own unique style.
